France: Report criticises 35-hour week

The parliamentary committee charged with evaluating the impact of the 35-hour week in France has presented a critical report to the national assembly.

The report, which was written by a member of the governing UMP (Union for the Presidential Majority) party in the national assembly, Hervé Novelli, estimated that the introduction of the 35-hour week in France had cost the economy !10 billion in 2003.
