France: Report proposes rights for 'economically dependent workers'

A report commissioned by the French government and submitted in November 2008 recommends the introduction of a specific employment law status and rights for “economically dependent workers” - self-employed people who are dependent on a single customer/employer for most of their income.

In September 2007, the minister of labour, Xavier Bertrand, commissioned a report from Henri Antonmattéi (a law professor) and Jean-Christophe Sciberras (a senior HR manager with the public employment service) on “economically dependent workers”.
