France: Small firms receive incentive to recruit

The government announced a scheme in December 2008 that gives companies with fewer than 10 employees financial incentives to recruit new staff, as part of a wider plan to help the French economy through the current economic crisis.

The “relaunch plan” for the economy, announced on 4 December, includes measures that will cost the state budget €26 billion in 2009.
