France: Social investment fund launched

The French Government and social partners officially launched a new "social investment fund" on 10 April 2009 to finance training and reskilling for those workers most affected by the economic crisis.

President Nicolas Sarkozy had announced the creation of the social investment fund (Fonds d'investissement social, Fiso) in February 2009, based on a proposal from the CFDT trade union confederation.
