France: Social partners hold summit

On 19 June 2007, the leaders of the main trade union confederations and employers' organisations met for a "social partner summit" and agreed to open negotiations on labour market modernisation and hold discussions on "industrial democracy".

At the meeting, the social partners assessed the progress made by three working groups they set up in October 2006 to examine the unemployment insurance system, employment contracts and career development.
