France: Unions and craft employers agree on dialogue in small firms
In January 2010, employers in the French crafts sector and trade unions called on the Government to introduce a new system of employee representation in companies with 10 employees or fewer.
A law adopted in August 2008 called on the social partners to negotiate a national cross-industry agreement during 2009 on the "means of reinforcing the effectiveness of collective employee representation in small companies and of measuring trade union representativeness [in these companies]".
