Germany: Legislation will ban clandestine observation of employees

The German Government proposed legislation in September 2010 that will forbid clandestine video observation of employees, as well as regulating other aspects of privacy at work.

Following a number of high-profile employee privacy and surveillance scandals in major German companies, the Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz) was amended in 2009.
