Germany: Members of low pay committee appointed

The Minister of Labour appointed the members of Germany’s new low pay committee in August 2009; it will determine whether or not employees in some parts of the economy should be protected by a legally binding sectoral minimum wage.

The creation of the new body is the latest development in the growing statutory regulation of pay in Germany, which has no legal national minimum wage.
