Germany: Parental benefit rules in force

New rules on payments to parents on parental leave came into force on 1 January 2007 and apply to all children born after this date. The changes mean a number of improvements for parents and are viewed by the government as part of a wider strategy of raising female workforce participation and encouraging more men to become involved in the care of their young children.
