Germany: Pay deal reached at Deutsche Post

On 30 April 2008, a pay settlement was agreed at the Deutsche Post postal services group, following a campaign of token "warning" strikes by the ver.di trade union and the threat of full-scale action after a strike ballot received overwhelming employee support.

In line with the higher range of pay settlements seen so far in 2008, pay for the 130,000 employees of Deutsche Post will rise by 4% from 1 November 2008, with a further rise of 3% from December 2009.
