Germany: Steel industry deal provides equal pay for agency workers
A settlement reached on 30 September 2010 for 85,000 steelworkers in the key regions of North Rhine Westphalia, Lower Saxony and Bremen includes a substantial pay rise and innovative provisions on temporary agency employment.
The deal was reached by the IG Metall trade union and Arbeitgeberverband Stahl employers' organisation following a series of warning strikes.
