Germany: Substantial pay rises agreed for kindergarten staff

A pay deal ratified in August 2009 brought to an end a long-running dispute within German local authority kindergartens.

The dispute involved large-scale strikes among the 220,000 employees in the sector, represented by the ver.di trade union.
