GMB guilty of sex discrimination in failing to pursue equal pay claims of council workers
The Newcastle employment tribunal has held that
the GMB union indirectly discriminated on grounds of sex against female members
by recommending that they accept an "ill-considered" deal on back pay rather
than embark on an equal pay claim.
Section 12 of
the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 (SDA) deals with sex discrimination by trade
unions.
