Government publishes proposals to help create family-friendly working

The Work and Families Bill* has been published as part of the Government's commitment to help create a family-friendly working environment.

The Bill aims to improve the position of working mothers by extending paid maternity leave to nine months, and to help fathers who want to play an active role in childcare by introducing new rights to paternity leave where the mother returns to work after six months' maternity leave.
