Government seeks "skills alliance"
The government has unveiled its strategy for tackling skills shortages and closing the productivity gap with other European countries and the US. In a White Paper, it calls for a "skills alliance" between employers, unions and the education sector, and a focus on basic numeracy and literacy standards.
