Greece: Controversy over ship crew plans

The Greek-owned merchant fleet, which is the world leader, accounting for 16.1% of global shipping capacity, is expanding fast, but there is a shortage of officers to crew the ships. This shortage has emerged as new-generation vessels are being added to the fleet and it is causing serious problems for shipowners, the maritime shipping ministry and the Panhellenic seafarers' federation (PNO).
