Greece: Employers' organisation changes name and approach
At its annual general assembly in late May 2007, the Federation of Greek Industries (SEV) – the country's largest central employers' organisation – decided to change its name to the Federation of Businesses and Industries, indicating that it now seeks to represent the whole business community.
The general assembly, which marked 100 years of existence for SEV (whose acronym remains unchanged), adopted the name change to reflect economic and social developments in Greece, with the manufacturing sector declining and the services sector growing in importance.
