Greece: Minister resigns and unions strike over pensions scandal

In late April 2007, the employment and social protection minister, Savvas Tsitouridis, resigned in the wake of a major controversy relating to an overpriced bond allegedly purchased by the civil servants’ auxiliary pension fund (TEADY).

The crisis was sparked when it was claimed that TEADY paid €75 million for a bond that was worth €70 million.
