International: Danone EWC becomes global body

In October 2009, Danone, the France-based food multinational, extended its European Works Council (EWC) to include representatives of its employees around the world.

Danone has a long history of cooperation with the International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers' Associations (IUF), which represents trade unions organising in the company's worldwide operations, and it was the first multinational company to sign international agreements on employment matters.
