International: Employers and unions call for dialogue over finance sector employment crisis

In February 2009, representatives of governments, employers and trade unions from around the world agreed on proposals for tackling the employment crisis gripping the financial services sector, focusing on promoting dialogue and avoiding redundancies.

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) held a "global dialogue forum on the impact of the financial crisis on finance sector workers" on 24 and 25 February.
