International: EWCs cost employers €272,000 per year
Research conducted for the European Commission has found that the average annual cost to a multinational company of having a European Works Council (EWC) is €272,000.
As part of the preparatory work for its July 2008 proposal for a Directive repealing and replacing the European Works Council 1994 Directive, the European Commission produced an impact assessment (PDF format, 536K) (on the European Commission website) related to its planned changes to the Directive.
