International: Global pay freeze agreed for seafarers
An international agreement signed in October 2009 defers pay talks in the global merchant shipping sector until 2010, but increases funding for seafarers' training, recruitment and skills enhancement.
Merchant shipping is unique in having sectoral collective bargaining arrangements at world level.
