International: Unions call for Europe-wide redeployment and reskilling plan at EDS
In September 2008, Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced 9,300 job losses in Europe as a result of its acquisition of Electronic Data Systems (EDS), prompting trade unions to call for consultations, no compulsory redundancies and a Europe-wide redeployment and reskilling plan.
HP completed its takeover of EDS, which is also based in the US, in August 2008.
