Ireland: Construction employers reject national pay deal

In late November 2008, the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) rejected the national pay agreement endorsed by Ireland's main social partner organisations and called for a 10% pay cut in the building sector.

The "transitional agreement” within the framework of the “Towards 2016” national social partnership agreement signed in 2006, was negotiated by the government, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) and employers' bodies in September 2008.
