Ireland: Government plans to increase retirement age from 65 to 68

The Irish Government announced in March 2010 plans to increase the retirement age from 65 to 68, and to require employers to enrol employees in a new supplementary pension scheme.

The Government's proposals were set out in a "national pensions framework", published on 3 March 2010, drawn up following consultations over a Green Paper published in October 2007.
