Ireland: Information and consultation Act signed

The Employees (Provision of Information and Consultation) Act 2006 was signed by the Irish president on 9 April 2006.

The new information and consultation Act implements the EU information and consultation Directive 2002/14/EC (EC: New working time and consultation Directives in force), which was published on 23 March 2002 and was due to be transposed into national legislation for all member states by 23 March 2005. Ireland and the UK, however, have a phased implementation time as neither country previously had a general statutory or agreed framework in place governing the information and consultation of employees.
