Ireland: Minimum wage cut by 11.6%

The Irish Government has announced that the national minimum wage will be reduced by 11.6% in 2011, as part of a plan to boost employment and competitiveness.

On 24 November 2010, the Government published a National Recovery Plan for 2011-14, providing for public spending cuts and tax increases (together worth €15 billion by 2014), and a programme of measures to enhance economic growth, employment and national competitiveness.
