Italy: Agreement aims to boost employment in Rome region

Italian trade unions are promoting the idea of regional "anti-crisis" agreements with employers to boost the economy and increase employment during autumn 2009, based on the example of an accord reached in Rome and its surrounding Lazio region.

In June 2009, the regional organisations in Rome/Lazio of the three main trade union confederations - Cgil, Cisl and Uil - signed an agreement with regional employers' associations aimed at tackling the effects of the recession.
