Italy: Agreement finally signed in schools sector

On 7 October 2007 - after more than two years of difficult negotiations - the main trade unions in the state schools sector and the Aran public sector collective bargaining agency signed a new collective agreement covering more than 850,000 teachers and 250,000 other school employees.

The agreement provides for an average monthly pay increase over two years from January 2008 of €140 for teachers and €100 for other staff.
