Italy: Agreement signed in construction
On 20 June 2008, after seven months of difficult negotiations, trade unions and employers in the construction sector concluded a new national collective agreement covering more than 1.3 million workers and 350,000 companies.
The previous agreement expired at the end of 2007, but talks between the three main construction unions - Fillea-Cgil, Filca-Cisl and Feneal-Uil - and the sectoral employers’ organisation proved very tough, with the unions organising a strike in support of their demands in April.
