Italy: Cgil holds strike against commerce sector agreement

The commerce workers’ trade union affiliated to the Cgil confederation organised a one-day strike on 15 November 2008, protesting at a new industry-wide agreement signed by employers and the other main unions.

A collective agreement for the commerce sector (retail and wholesale) was signed in July 2008 by the Confcommercio and Confesercenti employers’ organisations and the commerce workers’ trade unions affiliated to the Cisl and Uil confederations.
