Italy: Government and social partners agree to promote employee participation

The Italian Government and most national trade union and employers' organisations signed a joint opinion on 9 December 2009 on promoting employee financial participation and representation on company boards, in preparation for possible legislation in these areas.

The initiative followed a consultation exercise launched by the minister of labour, Maurizio Sacconi, in September 2009.
