Italy: Government and unions agree on increasing lowest pensions

On 10 July 2007, the centre-left government and main trade union confederations signed an agreement on increasing the lowest state pensions, which will benefit some 3.4 million people.

The accord covers the 3.1 million people over the age of 64, plus 300,000 disabled people, who currently receive an annual state pension of €8,500 or less.
