Italy: Greater company-level flexibility agreed in metalworking

Employers and trade unions in the Italian metalworking industry agreed in September 2010 to give companies greater freedom to deviate from the terms of the sector's national collective agreement and adapt pay and conditions to their own circumstances.

The national collective agreement for the metalworking industry covers 12,000 firms and 1.6 million employees and is Italy's most important sector-level accord.
