Italy: Law reforms wages guarantee fund and pensions

The upper house of the Italian Parliament approved, on 1 August 2009, a special decree that was proposed by the Government containing measures to tackle the economic crisis, including important changes to state pensions and benefits for laid off workers.

The "anti-crisis" decree is wide ranging, including a raft of tax measures and a reorganisation of the costs of the state companies.
