Italy: Pay increases agreed for local government staff

A pay settlement was reached in June 2009 for Italy's 500,000 local government workers, providing for an average wage increase of 3.2% over a year.

The accord was signed on 4 June by Aran, the public sector collective bargaining agency, and the public sector trade unions affiliated to the three main confederations, Cgil, Cisl and Uil.
