Italy: Restructuring agreement at Fiat

On 19 February 2007, an agreement on restructuring at the Fiat automotive group was signed by representatives of the government, company management and the metalworking trade unions, Fiom-Cgil, Fim-Cisl and Uilm-Uil. The parties agreed to use "mobility" procedures (see Italy: Strike called in public sector ) for 2,000 surplus workers and hold further negotiations to discuss the future of the Fiat plant at Termini Imerese (Sicily), where the current production programme ends in 2009.
