Italy: Social partners make joint call for measures to boost employment
Italy's main employers' organisations and trade union confederations agreed a "social pact" on 28 October 2010, calling on the Government to take a range of initiatives, including higher benefits for workers who have been laid off or placed on short-time work.
In early October 2010, Confindustria, the principal national employers' body, invited the other social partner organisations to hold talks on ways of boosting economic and employment growth, with the aim of making joint proposals for action to the Government.
