Italy: Telecom Italia and unions agree terms of workforce reduction
In September 2008, trade unions and management at Telecom Italia reached agreement on cutting the telecommunications company’s workforce by 5,000 over the next two years.
In June 2008, Telecom Italia, Italy’s largest telecommunications operator, announced a major efficiency and restructuring plan that involved shedding 5,000 of its 83,000-strong workforce, who are considered surplus to requirements.
