Italy: Unions fear for jobs as Fiat restructures
The Fiat automotive group presented its mid-term strategy to trade unions and the Italian Government in June 2009, signalling a restructuring programme that may involve major job losses.
In early June, Fiat completed a deal whereby it took a major stake in a new firm created from the viable parts of the stricken US-based Chrysler group.
