Italy: Unions hold strikes over metalworking agreement renewal

Trade unions representing workers in the metalworking industry called two strikes in October and November 2007 to put pressure on employers in bargaining over a new sectoral collective agreement. With the dispute continuing, a number of major employers in the industry have been making their own interim pay awards.
