Jaguar: 3.5% pay rise

Pay award: 3.5% for manuals, A-C grades staff and staff on Ford-derived terms and conditions; 2.5% plus merit payments from 2% budget for grade D staff

Employees covered (nos.): manuals (5,600); A-C grade staff (1,350); and D grade staff (1,300)

Effective date: 1 November 2004

In the first stage of a two-year deal negotiated with Amicus, GMB and the TGWU, Jaguar has awarded its 5,600 hourly paid employees a 3.5% across-the-board pay rise effective from 1 November 2004.

Other key elements of the settlement include:

  • an increase in the annual holiday bonus from £200 to £305;

  • attendance supplement improved to £30 per week for those on traditional Jaguar terms and conditions;

  • £1 million funding for a discretionary early retirement programme from 1 November 2005, allowing employees to retire at age 50 without any negative impact on their pension;

  • improved maternity pay - with effect from 1 January 2005, the company will extend the period of company maternity pay for up to 52 weeks, inclusive of entitlement to holiday pay. Weeks one through to six of the period of maternity leave will be paid at 90% average earnings or 100% base pay, whichever is greater.
