The National Metal Trades Federation, negotiating for the employers, and the Joint Committee of Light Metal Trades Unions, for the employees, have agreed an increase of 3.02% for all manual workers in the metal trades industry, effective from 1 January 2004.
In addition, both parties recognised the need for timely and effective discussions on the likely movement of the national minimum wage, effective 1 October 2004.
