Netherlands: CNV calls for employment law changes

The Christian Trade Union Federation (CNV) – one of the Netherlands’ two main union organisations – has recently called for increased employee representation on company boards and for improved rights for workers on temporary contracts.

The CNV has demanded that employees be given the right to appoint half of the members of company boards, as it believes that employees’ interests have too little weight in company decision-making and that shareholders have too much influence.
