Netherlands: Government calls for unions to support more flexible dismissal rules

Piet Hein Donner, the social affairs minister, has called on trade unions to support the government in its attempts to introduce more flexibility into dismissal arrangements.

Donner said: “We cannot afford to maintain existing systems”, claiming that they were gradually “losing their power and meaning”.
