New sexual harassment Regulations
On 1 October 2005, new sexual harassment legislation, aimed at preventing discrimination in the workforce, came into force.
The Employment Equality (Sex Discrimination) Regulations 2005 were laid in parliament on 7 September 2005, implementing the amended EU Equal Treatment Directive (2002/73/EC) (EC: Social policy state of play), which extended the definition of sex discrimination to cover any act that leads to intimidation or degradation.
