Plumbing industry: Rates rise by 6%

The second stage of a two-year pay and conditions agreement negotiated under the auspices of the joint industry board (JIB) for plumbing mechanical engineering services for England and Wales has resulted in a 6% pay rise, effective from 3 January 2005.
The agreement includes a clause stating that the 2005 rates may be subject to review before the January anniversary date "to ensure that they continue to compare favourably with prevailing rates in the related mechanical services industries".
