Plumbing: rates rise by 6%

    The joint industry board (JIB) for plumbing mechanical engineering services for England and Wales has agreed a new two-year pay and conditions agreement that increases minimum hourly rates by 6% from 5 January 2004, with a further 6% rise payable as part of the second stage of the deal, effective from 3 January 2005. The agreement includes a clause stating that the 2005 rates may be subject to review before the January anniversary date "to ensure that they continue to compare favourably with prevailing rates in the related mechanical services industries".
