Poland: Crisis may lead 400,000 migrants to return

The global financial crisis may result in 400,000 Poles who have left the country to work in western Europe returning home, with damaging effects for the Polish economy, according to predictions made by labour market experts in October 2008.

Since Poland joined the EU in 2004, large numbers of people have migrated to western Europe, attracted by higher wages.
