Poland: Disputes over hospital working time

The Polish doctors’ trade union is calling for the labour inspectorate to investigate whether or not hospitals and other healthcare organisations are complying with the EU Directive on working time (originally adopted in 1993 and now consolidated in Directive 2003/88/EC). This imposes a limit on average weekly working time of 48 hours, but the union claims that doctors work more than this.
